Buccal Fat Removal: A Look at the Risks

Remove cheek fat for a slim, V-shaped face? Why a buccal lipectomy can do the opposite — and which risk-free alternative exists.

In recent years, buccal fat removal (bichectomy) — a procedure meant to improve the look of the face — has grown in popularity. The idea of simply having excess fat removed from the face for a slim, V-shaped look sounds tempting. Just as supermodel Bella Hadid is said to have done.

But is it really that simple?

The operation, also known as buccal lipectomy or surgical cheek fat removal, is meant to reduce cheek volume when it appears too full, too round, or too chubby. Removing excess fatty tissue is supposed to emphasise the cheekbones and make the lower face slimmer and more defined, which in turn is meant to make the face look younger.

But in reality it can produce the opposite effect: because of the missing and diminishing volume in the face, premature aging can set in as the skin slackens.

Gary Linkov, a New York cosmetic surgeon, explains in a YouTube video why he no longer performs the procedure.

There is, however, a risk-free and far more affordable alternative to surgery.

Train with the FACE Method®

The FACE Method® offers you specific exercises for face slimming that, combined with cheek training, lift the cheeks and give you a more defined cheek look and a V-shaped face. Through regular training the facial muscles in this area are strengthened. The face looks naturally firmer and younger, and the visible aging process is noticeably slowed.
